This special initiative will run from June through August 2008 at universities and folk high schools throughout Sweden.  Participation in the summer university will offer you new knowledge, help you familiarize with Sweden as a country and give you access to an inspiring network.

Since the courses are held in English, participants need a good command of the English language.

Below find information about the courses that are offered and from which countries students are eligible to apply.

For PhD students, we accept applications from the following countries (applicants should preferably be enrolled at a university in their home country): Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, China, Egypt, Estonia, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Montenegro, Poland, Russia, Rwanda, South Africa, Serbia, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, Uganda and Ukraine. We offer the following courses:

•  Theories of Gender and Diversity and Practices in Local Government – Schooling and Eldercare
•  Openness and Sustainability
•  Sustainable Urban Planning and Development 

For social science students on their third, fourth or fifth year of university studies from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus we offer the following courses:

•  Multi-Level Governance in Sweden and the EU
•  A Meeting on the Border without Borders
•  Social Development and Welfare and Gender
•  Equality and the Swedish Society

For young university teachers (25-35 years of age) within social science from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus we offer the following course:

•  Lifelong Learning: Education in Sweden
