The Visby Program invites you to the seminar “Science and Education for Sustainable Development — Networking in the Baltic Sea Region” in Saint Petersburg 16–17 November 2009.
The seminar is arranged in cooperation with Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering and is open to researchers as well as doctoral students from Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Sweden and Ukraine.
The Visby Program — Swedish Institute’s Baltic Sea Region Exchange Program — is a mobility program that comprises Sweden and its closest neighbors in the east: Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Ukraine. The aim of the Visby program is to create more extensive joint collaboration between Sweden and the other program countries on education and research.
The aim of the seminar is to establish contacts and networks within the field of sustainable development. The seminar will focus on the following two areas: urban planning and design, and architecture and sustainable environment, within both education and research.
In order to identifying possible fields for new contacts and networks, the seminar will cover presentations on research and interesting projects. There will also be round table discussions, time for networking as well as information on funding possibilities.
The Swedish institute will cover conference costs and accommodation. Participants from countries other than Sweden may also apply for a small travel grant.
The application deadline has passed. Confirmation about participation was emailed to the participants on September 15.
Information about the contact seminar will be updated throughout the application period. Please see http://www.si.se/English/Navigation/Scholarships-and-exchanges/The-Visby-Program.
