What’s required to be eligible for a master’s degree programme in Sweden?
Before you apply, you should have completed a course of study leading to a degree or diploma equivalent to 180 ECTS (three years of full-time bachelor's level studies). In most cases a bachelor’s degree will be regarded as fulfilling this requirement.
For English-language programmes, you must have documented proficiency in English, for example in the form of TOEFL or IELTS test results.
For more information on minimum scores for the TOEFL and IELTS for master’s studies, please see Universityadmissions.se.
Being a native speaker of English can also fulfil the language requirement, provided you can prove a high level of proficiency in English, usually through studies at the upper-secondary (high school) or university level.
For university studies in Swedish, you must prove that you have skills in Swedish equivalent to the upper-secondary level, usually through the TISUS test.
Please note that these are general entry requirements. Universities can also have specific entry requirements for courses and programmes. For more information, please see Universityadmissions.se.
