Looking for more than just a degree?

“I came to Sweden to study sustainability in a place where people can lead a dignified life, no matter where they came from” – Elnaz, Uppsala University.

Sweden. Where freedom, facts and equality matter. 🇸🇪

Education in Sweden isn’t just about grades. It’s about having the freedom to grow, ask big questions, and learn in a place that values honesty, openness, and sustainability. ✌️

You want to challenge your professor? Please do.

Academic freedom is non-negotiable. We expect critical thinking, honest debate, and ideas that push boundaries – not just memorisation.

No banned books. No banned words. No political interference. No obedience grades.

Just you, your voice, and the freedom to use it.

You’re safe here.

No matter where you’re from, your gender, or your sexual orientation, Sweden has space for you. A new home should feel like just that, a home. No fear, no exceptions.

Sweden ranks as one of the most gender-equal and LGBTQI+-inclusive countries in the world.

You’ll study in a place where your identity isn’t questioned – it’s respected.

✔️ #1 on the EU Gender Equality Index
✔️ Strong LGBTQI+ protections
✔️ Safe, welcoming campuses

Fairy tale unicorns? 🦄 Unfortunately not, but rather multi-billion dollar tech companies. Our capital Stockholm produces the most million-dollar companies per capita in the world, after Silicon Valley. And we don’t have to sleep at the office to achieve it.

Work-life balance really means something in Sweden. You’ll never be short of time – or opportunity – to enjoy your new home away from home with culture around the corner and freedom to roam a wilderness unlike anywhere else on earth.

“Studying in Sweden made me understand that there’s no paradise on earth. Sweden isn’t perfect, but here you can express your opinions freely and fight for your own rights”

“You can keep taking re-takes and no-one thinks you’re stupid” – Samhita, Dalarna University

What can you study?

We offer loads of programmes here. Thousands. At all levels too – bachelor’s, master’s, PhD. And you can pretty much study any subject in English.

…but there are a few exceptions.

And here they are. You can’t study to become a clinical doctor 👩🏻‍⚕️ or nurse or dentist. Or a vet. Nor can you take a programme to become a teacher. 👨🏽‍🏫 Not in English at least. But if you’re fluent in Swedish? Now that’s another story. Head on over to Antagning.se ↗️ to get the ball rolling.

What makes studying in Sweden unique?

We don’t have all the answers. Professors and lecturers in Sweden expect to learn from you, as you’ll learn from them.

Get ready to question everything, and challenge the status quo.

In the Swedish classroom, disagreements are encouraged. As long as they’re approached respectfully.

Sure, calling your lecturers by their first name might feel strange at first. But you’ll get used to it. And you’ll love the informality and sense of equality that exists in the Swedish classroom. It really allows for a free and open way of working.

You won’t be spoon fed your degree here. You’re responsible for your own learning. You’ll learn to develop your own thoughts and reflections. And you’ll focus on the quality of what you learn and what you produce.

And if you fail? That’s okay too. It’s an important part of learning and success.

Yes, it can be frustrating. People will disagree. Someone might slack off.

But it’ll make you sharper. More collaborative. Better at solving problems.
Group work is a challenge — and a preparation.

Up for it? You’ll fit right in.
